📍 Melbourne CBD · Best for bondi sands devotees
★★★★★ · 1,240 reviews on Google
Best ValueGlow Verified

The brand's flagship spray studio. Reliable result, fast turnaround, central location for the working-week glow. Slight bias toward warmer undertones — good for olive and tan skin, less ideal for cool fair.

📍 South Yarra · Best for olive + warm-toned skin
★★★★★ · 720 reviews on Google
Best for Luxury

The Loving Tan formula, applied by trained therapists. Beautiful warmth on olive skin; less flattering on Fitzpatrick I. Premium pricing reflects the studio fit-out, not necessarily a better tan.

📍 Melbourne CBD · Best for beginners + budget

Best for BeginnersBest Value

Affordable, fast, friendly. Good entry-point if you've never had a spray tan before. Result is lighter and washes off quicker than premium options — fine for a one-off, less ideal as your weekly habit.

Independent practitioner-owned. The therapist's eye for skin tone is unusually strong — she'll mix the formula to your undertone rather than spraying the same blend on every client.

Hotel-precinct service. Open late, good for after-work appointments. Inconsistent across therapists — request the senior therapist when you book, not the apprentice.

📍 Armadale · Best for south yarra/toorak set
★★★★ · 220 reviews on Google

Premium-positioned, clientele-driven. The result is fine; you're paying for the postcode. Worth it for the discreet appointment book; otherwise overpaid for a spray tan.

Cheap, cheerful, beachside. Inconsistent on darker skin tones — the formula skews orange. Best used for the day-of-event one-off rather than weekly maintenance.

Editorial standard

How we rank spray tans.

Glow's editorial team visits every business in person. We book under regular client names, pay normal pricing, and grade against a five-axis scorecard: practitioner skill, equipment or product, hygiene, results at week six, and pricing transparency. We re-test every 12 months. No business pays for placement.

Buyer's guide

What to look for in a spray tan.

  • Australian Glow, Bondi Sands or Loving Tan formula on the menu — not a generic 'studio brand' you can't research.
  • A therapist who looks at your skin tone before mixing the formula, not just spraying every client the same blend.
  • A drying booth and a barrier-cream brief at the start — clinics that skip the barrier cream leave orange palms.
  • A clear cancellation policy and a sliding scale for groups (bridal, hens, debutante).
Frequently asked

Common questions.

How long does a spray tan last?

Five to seven days for a standard formula, longer for a 1-hour rapid. The day you exfoliate matters more than the brand — exfoliate on day five and reapply on day seven, not the other way around.

Will a spray tan stain my clothes?

Only the bronzer guide colour stains, and only on day one. Wear loose dark cotton, sleep in dark sheets the first night, and shower the following morning before going in white.

Spray tan or self-tan at home?

Spray tan for evenness on day one; self-tan for ongoing maintenance because you can do it twice a week without paying $50 a session. Most clients we tested do both.

Is spray tan safe in pregnancy?

DHA, the active ingredient, is considered safe topically. Avoid inhaling the spray — most professional studios offer a face-mask option, and reputable clinics will brief you on this without being asked.
