Founded 2011 in Laguna Beach by Sasha Plavsic. ILIA started as a clean-tinted lip balm brand and slowly expanded into complexion. The brand defined a tier the category didn't have — clean makeup that felt and performed like luxury makeup, not natural-products makeup.
Super Serum Skin Tint launched in 2019 and changed the brand. SPF 40, niacinamide and hyaluronic in a tinted base, in 30 shades. It became one of the most-recommended skin tints in the prestige market and the product that put ILIA on every editor's list.
Acquired in 2022 by Famille C (the family office behind Clarins), giving global retail reach. The brand sits at MECCA in the clean-luxury-makeup tier alongside Westman Atelier and Kosas.
