The brand
Founded 1991 in New York by Bobbi Brown, a working makeup artist, with ten lipsticks designed to look like real lip colour — not the bright lip palette dominant at the time. The line expanded into stick foundations, neutral palettes, and a coherent point of view: makeup should make you look like yourself.
Acquired by Estée Lauder Companies in 1995. Bobbi Brown remained at the brand for two decades, then left in 2016 over disagreements about direction. She launched Jones Road in 2020.
The brand today is still trading on her aesthetic legacy — the same skin-finish thesis, the same neutral palette logic — just without her hand in the formulas. Stocked at MECCA Australia as a heritage prestige brand.
