This hub collects the Australian-founded, Australian-made brands that hold their own in our rankings without any hometown handicap. The same rubric applies to a Noosa gradual tan as to an imported counter serum, and the local results stand up. Four rankings cover skincare, self-tan, hair and wellness, each listing what we tested and what it costs here.

Alpha-H's Vitamin A Serum tops the Aussie skincare ranking with a Glow score of 9.1 at $79, the same score that made it our best retinol in Australia outright. Go-To's Zincredible SPF50+ scores 8.8 at $42, and Frank Body's Original Coffee Scrub holds 8.4 at $20. Self-tan is the category Australia genuinely exports: Loving Tan's 2HR Express Deluxe Mousse scores 9.2 at $65 as the salon-grade pick, Bondi Sands' Pure Self Tanning Foam sits at 8.7 for $38, and Eco Tan's organic Winter Skin scores 8.9 at $45. The hair and wellness rankings run from Kevin Murphy and Davroe through to Vida Glow, The Beauty Chef, BioCeuticals and JSHealth.

• Australian-founded and Australian-made are not the same thing. This hub tracks brands that are both, so read labels closely when you shop beyond it.
• Self-tan has the deepest local bench: five brands ranked, with scores running from 8.6 to 9.2.
• The best-for tags in each ranking (salon-grade, organic, boutique) tell you which job a product won. Buy for the job, not just the number.
• A high price is not a local tax. The $20 Frank Body scrub and the $79 Alpha-H serum sit in the same ranking on merit.
